How will I receive my new personalised number plates?

There are 2 ways you can receive your personalised number plates:

Pick them up from your nominated registry or Service NSW Centre

Your number plates will be delivered to the nominated registry or Service NSW Centre in approximately 21 days from the date of purchase. You will need to hand in your old plates in order to pick up your new plates. When collecting your plates you will be charged a pro-rata fee for the plates. If you do not pay the applicable fees within 28 days of the RMS’s notice, the plates may either be destroyed or made available to another customer.

If you then wish to reapply for the same content or style or an alternative, you will have to place a new order and pay applicable fees. The law requires that plates must be fitted to a vehicle before it can be driven on roads or road related areas. Some of their plates are designed for imported vehicles and do not come with pre-drilled holes. You will need to consider this when arranging to collect and fit your new number plates.

Am I eligible for direct delivery?

Direct delivery is available for customers who own an active vehicle registration and are ordering personalised number plates for a light vehicle, motorcycle or trailer, and are free from restrictions recorded in RMS systems.

Can the courier leave my plates at the nominated address if I am not available at the time of delivery?

No. If the Courier experiences difficulty in completing a delivery to you, the Courier will deliver your personalised number plates to a Postal facility near your delivery address. The Courier will leave you a calling card identifying the Postal Facility from where you can collect personalised number plates.

If you do not collect your personalised number plates from the Postal facility within 10 working days, the Courier will return your personalised number plates to the Manufacturer for destruction. If you then wish to reapply for the same plate, you will need to pay the applicable fees.

Can someone else sign for my plates or collect them from the Postal facility if I am not available?

No.

What happens if I submit a Notice of Disposal for the vehicle that I nominated when placing a delivery order?

You must notify myPlates as soon as possible on 131 758. The new number plate you ordered will need to be returned to the RMS and the delivery order cancelled. The old plate will remain the legal plate that must be displayed on your vehicle. Failure to display the correct number plates on your vehicle is an offence under the Road Transport Act (2013).

Do all plates have an annual fee?

No. Standard number plates have a one-off order fee only. If you want to select (personalise) your content, by choosing your own letters and numbers, then ongoing annual fees will apply. Annual fees start from just $109.

What is myPlates’s refunds policy?

myPlates will refund the full order fee paid by you provided you cancel your order on the same day the order fee was paid. Additionally, if you have chosen Direct Delivery, myPlates will also refund any Annual Fee you have paid if you cancel your order before the Special Number Plates are shipped.

If the annual fee changes after I’ve paid my registration or placed my plates in storage, will I receive a refund or be required to pay the difference?

No refund or extra money will apply to the plate fees in the current period of registration, for which you have already paid. You will be asked to pay the higher or lower annual fee the next time your registration is due or you can renew the storage period.

If I change my mind after I have placed my order, will my order fee be refunded?

myPlates will refund the full order fee for personalised number plates if you cancel your order on the same day the order fee was paid. myPlates will not refund any fees for personalised number plates including any order fees or any annual fee in any other circumstances.
