Prices depend on the season, and are highest from mid December to February, when they typically run from NZ$200 to NZ$400 a day. A 20% non-refundable deposit is taken when you book. After that, cancelling 35 to 20 days before pick-up gets you 50% of the hire fee back, 19 to 7 days gets 25%, and within 6 days there's no refund.
Every hire includes standard insurance with a NZ$5,000 bond, or you can add premium cover from NZ$35 a day to bring the bond down to zero. Drivers need to be 18 or over with a full licence in English, or carry an International Driving Permit or approved translation. Christchurch hires include a free airport shuttle, while the Auckland depot is a short ride from the airport.
